Artemis very early stone sculpture

This female statue of island marble was found in Delos, Cyclades, in the sanctuary of Artemis. Dating from around 650 BC, this is one of the earliest monumental statues in stone, it probably represents the goddess Artemis. According to the inscription carved on the left thigh, the statue was dedicated to Apollo by the Naxian Nikandre.
