Javelin Bearer

Marble grave stele of a young javelin-bearer, found in Athens 550-540 BC.

From the National Archaeological Museum in Athens exhibition description:

Grave stele, made of Parian marble. It was found built into the Themistokleian wall, Athens. It represents a young athlete holding a javelin. The background preserves traces of red color. The total height of the stele, along with the missing crowning, was about 4,5 m.
