Ivory statuette of Apollo Lykeios
Mended from over 200 pieces found in a well, the statuette is probably a miniature copy of Praxiteles’ statue of Apollo Lykeios that stood in Aristotle’s famous school of philosophy, the Lyceum. The god held his bow in his left hand. The invocation Lykeios is associated with Apollo’s attribute as God of Light.
The hula hoop is to keep the restored statuette in position.
