Museum of the Ancient Agora in Athens

Visit the Ancient Agora in Athens to see the museum, Church of the Holy Apostles

The Museum of the Ancient Agora of Athens is in the rebuilt Stoa of Attalos. This two-storied, double-colonaded building was recreated in the 1950s by the American School of Classical Studies to house the archaeological discoveries of the Agora site.

Slightly uphill from the museum is the Church of the Holy Apostles. This typical Greek-cross church was erected around AD1000. The cupola has a Christ Pantocrator. On the way note the wall built after the Herulian raid (267 AD) – it reused any rubble available to hastily repair the wall.
